It is top a priority of St. Charles Public Schools to pursue and develop the best people to lead, work with, and serve our students and communities.

To support these efforts, our District has implemented a system for Staff Development and has established a District Advisory committee to oversee the implementation of our staff development program.  The committee's purpose, mission and vision are as follows:
  • To develop a Staff Development Plan containing the elements required by State law and local policy to be reviewed and approved annually by the St. Charles School Board.
  • To assist Site Professional Development Teams in developing site plans to ensure  that goals are aligned with the District Staff Development Plan, the District’s World’s Best Workforce Plan,  and the School District’s Strategic Plan.
  • To provide  professional growth and development opportunities for all St. Charles Public Schools Faculty and Staff that supports improved student learning.  More specifically:  
    • Create the Annual Fall Workshop Calendar, and plan District staff development activities for staff in-service days to prepare staff for the start of the new school year.
    • Schedule and provide feedback on all Annual Mandatory Trainings that the District is required to provide.
    • Schedule and provide feedback on Non-Mandatory Trainings prescribed per job responsibilities.
    • Create, schedule, and provide district-wide opportunities throughout the year for teachers to meet Continuing Education requirements for re-licensure.
  • To develop, implement, and maintain non-certified and certified staff  mentoring programs for all staff and faculty new to the profession or school district that are aligned with the St. Charles Public School District’s employee evaluation and peer review processes.
  • Oversee approval of District level staff development requests.
  • To plan a budget in alignment with State of Minnesota statutes and local district policy and to monitor the expenditures on a regular basis.
