The purpose of the Saint Charles school counseling program is to provide all students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge through growth in the academic, career, and social/emotional domains.  In partnership with the community and fellow educators, the school counseling program will help challenge students, involve students, and help students achieve their goals.

The three domains of school counseling programs include:

*     Academic Development

     The school counseling program implements strategies and activities to support and maximize each student’s ability to learn.  (American School Counselor Association, 2014)

*     Career Development

     The school counseling program helps students understand the connection between school and the world of work and plan for and make a successful transition from school to postsecondary education and/or the world of work and from job to job  across the life span (ASCA, 2014).

*     Social/Emotional Development

     The school counseling program helps students manage their emotions and teaches students to apply interpersonal skills to their everyday lives (ASCA, 2014).
